Kathy's Cool Cuts: Back-to-School Haircuts + Backpacks!

On August 15, 2021, Robert Gonzales, Mayor of Azusa, organized the annual Kathy’s Cool Cuts event, offering free back-to-school haircuts to kids in the community of Azusa.  Stylists volunteered from a local beauty college and a barbershop.

This year, 178 children participated and, thanks to your support, Pillows & Plenty donated backpacks (pre-packed with school supplies) to every child. 

We were also able to surprise every family member with a new pillow thanks to a recent donation to Pillows & Plenty from SimplySova.

Kathy’s Cool Cuts is named after Mayor Gonzales’ sister who worked for Options for Learning. After Kathy passed, Robert began holding this annual event in her honor. It is now in its 13th year.
