Approximately 25 percent of children in the Los Angeles metropolitan area are living in poverty. There are many families struggling to make ends meet here— with children who don’t have basics such as pajamas, a pillow or a warm blanket to sleep well at night. Some children live in unheated hotel rooms converted into apartments for a multi-member family to share. Pillows and Plenty seeks to alleviate the needs of children in financially-challenged families throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
During times of uncertainty, transition, and desperation, we provide children with brand-new clothes, warm blankets and a pillow. Children are referred to our organization through school administrators and directors of community centers. We hope to restore self-pride and brighten a child’s view of the future, fostering the potential of our youth during difficult times.
