Pillows and Plenty Giveaway December 2020

In December, we delivered new jackets, pajamas, socks and packages of underwear to 52 children. It's one of my greatest joys to bring a little extra warmth to our community, especially during the holidays. 

Several families shared their stories with us.  We met one family struggling with extreme medical hardship. Their little girl, born with an abnormal heart condition, requires surgery every two years to modify her treatment to keep up with her growth. Her situation was compounded by a diagnosis of a cancerous brain tumor for her father. (We were so saddened to learn that he passed away just a few days before Christmas.) Another family struggles to find steady-paying work to afford rent and a stable environment for their three children. Currently, this family of five is living in one bedroom that they rent in a home shared with two other families. We met another family that is living in a garage and struggling to make ends meet.  

We thank you for the donations that made this a special delivery for La Casa de San Gabriel Community. We will continue to hold these families in our hearts.
